Biography
Ghislain advises on all matters relating to the acquisition, exploitation, and defense of patents. His expertise benefits a diverse clientele, ranging from start-ups to large corporations, across technical fields such as aeronautics, food industry, production engineering, packaging and bottling, cosmetics, ophthalmology, as well as composite materials, additive manufacturing, and electrical systems.
With more than 400 patent applications to his credit and involvement in numerous opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office, he has recognized experience. He has also conducted various intellectual property portfolio audits (due diligence) for clients and investors in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. A graduate engineer in Mechanical Systems Engineering and holder of a Master’s degree in Innovation Management, he began his professional career in the research and innovation department of a major French automotive manufacturer. He first held a project support role, where he developed his skills in technology monitoring, before joining the patents and valorization department. In 2013, he joined Santarelli.
A French Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, he also holds a diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe, is qualified as a Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), and has a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law. Ghislain Laurin also contributes to the training of future professionals as a tutor for the preparation of the European Qualifying Examination (EQE), organized by the French Association of Industrial Property Specialists (ASPI). Since 2020, he has been a lecturer at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), where he teaches an introduction to intellectual property to final-year aeronautical engineering students.
