Biography
Intellectual property counsel, Elia joined Santarelli in January 2023 after a first experience in the IP/IT department of an Anglo-Saxon law firm in Paris. With a Franco-Italian legal background, Elia studied international and European law at the Universities of Florence and Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, before completing a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law and the Valorization of Intangible Assets at the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) in Strasbourg.
During his academic career, Elia focused in particular on topics such as the protection of non-traditional trademarks and the relationship between fine arts and trademark law, subjects on which he wrote research dissertations. Today, he assists a French and international clientele ranging from large corporations—particularly in the fashion and luxury sectors—to SMEs and individuals.
He is mainly involved in managing intellectual property portfolios, as well as in pre-litigation and litigation relating to trademarks, designs, copyright, and anti-counterfeiting, in addition to providing consultations and research in these areas.
