Biography

A graduate of École Polytechnique and ENPC, Bertrand Duflos began his career in industry as a project manager in the oil and gas sector before founding a 3D digitization services company. He then moved into the field of intellectual property in 2006, first with a major Parisian firm and later with Santarelli, which he joined in 2022.

As a French Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, he now assists a wide range of clients—French and international, SMEs, mid-sized companies, and large corporations—in developing their patent portfolios and defending their patent rights. His broad academic background and industrial experience have given him extensive technical expertise, ranging from mechanics and mechatronics to software inventions, IoT, and artificial intelligence.

Passionate about software development and artificial intelligence, he helps clients protect their R&D outcomes and inventions primarily in the field of information technologies, whether these involve software-only inventions or solutions integrated into more complex machines or systems.

His involvement in software licensing issues has led Bertrand to become Co-Chair of the IT & Software Committee of LES France (Licensing Executives Society).
