Thierry Caen
Thierry Caen is a French and European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorney. He is a Doctor of Pharmacy (Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg). Thierry Caen began his intellectual property career as a patent attorney in the patent departments of a number of major chemical and pharmaceutical companies (1985-1997). He joined Santarelli in 1998 and became a partner in 2004. He is in charge of patent activities relating to pharmacy, chemistry and biotechnology.
Thierry works with a team of five Patent Attorneys and Patent Engineers.
He assists his clients in constituting their patent portfolios and in defending their rights in litigation and opposition cases. He also has particular expertise in the field of Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs).
Thierry gives conferences throughout Europe on French and European patent rights, in particular at the European Patent Office Academy. He appears in the 9th edition of Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law and Patent Practitioners. Thierry Caen has also participated in the drafting of several articles published in magazines such as Acquisition International Magazine and Entreprendre. He is a member of AFPPI (French Association for the Protection of Industrial Property), APEB (Association for European Patent Practitioners) and AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). Thierry Caen also prepares subjects for the CEIPI short course (Center for International Patent Rights) and assesses the students.
